The Last Salute

While working on the Canadian Veterans projects “Honour" and "The Last Salute,"" I had the great privilege and opportunity to photograph the last two living Canadian World War I Veterans in 2005, Dwight Wilson (L) and Victor (Lloyd) Clement (R).

Currently I am developing an expanded version of The Last Salute, to commemorate the end of World II in 2025. In the first phase of the project I was able to photograph more than 50 World War II veterans in 2021 and 2022.

They were all over 100 years old when I made their portraits, but sadly many of them are no longer with us.The video below, which aired on CBC https://bit.ly/tlscbc tells more of their story and the project.

To honour their legacy, I am looking to photograph 50 individuals or families who are descendants and beneficiaries of the Veterans' sacrifices in World War II.

Had the war not ended with a victory by the Allies over the Axis powers, these people and their descendants may not have lived to immigrate to Canada and prosper as they have.

If you think that you, your family or someone you know may be a suitable subject for The Last Salute, please reach out here, by email at stop@yuridojc.com, from any of my social media channels at https://linktr.ee/yuridojc or at my website https://www.yuridojc.com/the-last-salute

Thank you,

Yuri
